For more than 20 years, attorney Charles K. Gould has focused his practice entirely on defense litigation in state and federal courts throughout West Virginia (WV) and southeast Ohio (OH). He is an experienced WV and OH litigation defense lawyer, whose extensive defense practice ranges from consumer litigation and complex commercial litigation to defending against serious personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Defense of an international product manufacturer in design and manufacturing product liability claims, resulting in a verdict for the defense in state court;
Defense of an engineering firm in a professional negligence claim involving a multi-million dollar waste water system upgrade project, resulting in a verdict for the defense in state court;
Defense of a municipality and police officer in a Section 1983 wrongful death claim, resulting in a verdict for the defense in federal court;
Defense of an employer in a wrongful termination/employment discrimination matter, resulting in a verdict for the defense in state court;
Defense of professional negligence and engineering design claims related to a waste water system upgrade, which were favorably resolved during trial;
Defense of breach of contract, misrepresentation, and fraud claims against property owners arising from sale of property, resulting in verdicts for the defense in state court;
Defense of property owners in a challenge of a restrictive covenant by a property developer, resulting in a judgment for the defense following a bench trial in state court;
Successfully prosecuted a contribution claim of an automobile dealership against a manufacturer in a subrogation action in state court;
Defense of an employer in a deliberate intent action, which was resolved favorably during first day of trial in state court.

In addition to his wide-ranging trial experience, Charlie has skillfully resolved a large number cases through dispositive motion briefing, alternative dispute proceedings, and direct settlement negotiation. He becomes invested in the cases of his clients and works tirelessly to identify and understand all of the pertinent facts of his cases. Resolution of the case in the manner that best serves the client is his ultimate goal, whether that is achieved in the courtroom or by means of negotiation.

When his is not defending employer clients in West Virginia and Ohio, Charlie enjoys sports, travelling, home improvement, and cooking formal meals for his family on weekends.
