For over 24 years, Barbara has been a leading voice on matters relating to insurance coverage issues in West Virginia. Her experience truly speaks for itself.

In addition to her concentration on insurance law, Barbara’s practice areas also included extra-contractual matters, unfair trade practice claims, agent errors and omissions, and participation in administrative law proceedings at the West Virginia Insurance Commission. Outside of the insurance arena, her defense work has included personal injury, construction, trucking cases, deliberate intent, products liability, and premises liability.

Barbara has an AV Preeminent Peer Review at Martindale Hubbell. And she is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and a trained mediator. Barbara was recognized in Super Lawyers® in West Virginia for 2009 and 2014 to 2018 in Insurance Coverage.

Barbara was born and raised in South Charleston. She earned her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in criminal justice from Marshall University and her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law. In law school, she was in the top one-third of her class, served on the Women’s Law Caucus, and the school’s recruitment committee. She was also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.

Barbara has also served as an adjunct professor at Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business teaching insurance principles. She lives in Hurricane, where she spends her time enjoying her son’s tennis matches and band performances. She also enjoys church activities and is an avid reader.
