Steve's expertise is in the areas of corporate and commercial law, contract law, mergers and acquisitions and commercial real estate, land use and zoning law. Steve has worked with clients ranging from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 companies and has handled transactions as small as the sale of a local computer business to multimillion dollar sales of businesses. Steve understands that business people at all levels of sophistication need an attorney who listens to them, understands what they need to accomplish, cares about their challenge or problem and at the end of the day, finds a way for the client to achieve its goals.
Steve's love of problem solving began while at Wittenberg University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Chemistry in 1989. Rather than proceed to medical school or engineering school, Steve chose to pursue a career in the law. In 1992, he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. While at UVA, he was a member of its Journal of Law & Politics and played on three different softball teams.
Steve is licensed to practice law in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. Over the years he has represented individuals and businesses throughout West Virginia, southeastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky. Steve has been recognized for the last several years in the publication Best Lawyer in America in the practice areas of Real Estate Law, Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Steve is active in the Huntington community, particularly at his church, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He has served on church council for many years and recently served as chairman of the "call committee" which was charged with finding the congregation a new pastor. Steve is also Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of Huntington Area Development Council and a member of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Children's Hospital Major Gift Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Stella Fuller Settlement, Inc. and a citizen member of the Marshall University Institutional Review Board.
As a longtime Huntingtonian, Steve is an avid Marshall fan and a member of the Big Green Foundation. Since his return to Huntington after law school, he has been a Marshall football and basketball season ticket holder. He is also a movie fanatic and still considers himself somewhat of an athlete, though it is quite certain no one else would agree.
