Michael's practices focuses on management side labor and employment law and defense of employment related litigation brought against employers. He regularly represents employers in both state and federal court and before various administrative bodies, including the West Virginia Human Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC"), the National Labor Relations Board ("NLRB"), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OHSA"), the West Virginia Division of Labor, the U.S. Department of Labor ("DOL"), and various other state and federal agencies. Michael handles many traditional labor law issues including representation of companies in collective bargaining negotiations and grievance and arbitration hearings. He also regularly counsels clients on employment-related issues, including compliance with applicable law, discipline and discharge decisions, drafting, implementation, and enforcement of employment policies, creation and revision of employee handbooks, and supervisor/manager training.
