Barbara J. Keefer was born in South Charleston, West Virginia. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Marshall University, in Huntington, West Virginia and her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 1980. She began her legal career at Masters & Taylor, L.C., a plaintiff's firm located in Charleston, West Virginia. She has represented defendants, insurance companies and agents with three other defense firms in Charleston, West Virginia - Goodwin & Goodwin, LLP, MacCorkle, Lavender & Sweeney, PLLC and Schuda & Associates, PLLC. In 2014 she joined Jenkins Fenstermaker, PLLC. Previously she was employed in-house for USF&G Insurance as the Managing Attorney of its Trial Division and also at Nationwide Insurance Company as a Claims Manager, Claims Legal Counsel and Managing Claims Counsel. Ms. Keefer's practice areas include coverage; extra-contractual matters; unfair trade practice claims; agent errors and omissions; administrative law before the West Virginia Insurance Commission as well as regular defense work in personal injury, construction, trucking cases, deliberate intent, products liability, and premises liability.
